    Welcome!

    Welcome

Welcome to Conestoga College’s web home for our Digital Learning eXperiences (DLXs)! Conestoga's Centre for Virtual Reality Innovation (CVRI) created these digital learning tools to enhance learning in programs across various campuses and departments, and now, with NSERC, SSHRC and College and Community Social Impact Fund (CCSIF) support, they’re opened up to you.

    CVRI History and Legacy

Conestoga College’s Centre for Virtual Reality Innovation (CVRI), formerly VARLab, started out in 2018 as a small co-op student team lead by Professor Russell Foubert from the Software Engineering Technology program and grew in size and capability many times, to having over 70 employees and producing over 25 DLXs in a little over 5 years time.

With the closure of the department, it is CVRI’s sincere desire to share what has been built with the broadest community possible, with gratitude to our partners at Contact North for supporting this access.

    The ‘Courses’ Available

This site allows free access for everyone to review how immersive simulations can enhance learner engagement and outcomes. These learning experiences are not VR or headset-based, since they were designed to work on most computers with a modern web browser and reasonable hardware.

The DLXs are provided as mini-courses that give you taste of the learning these experiences can give.

    Each course includes:

    • an overview of the digital learning experiences DLXs before playing
    • a short prebrief to get started
    • playthrough of the immersive DLX, as many times as you like
    • a debrief afterwards
    • a link to the Conestoga College programs that may be connected to that DLX

    How to get started:

    • Browse courses: Select ‘SITE HOME’ -to see what mini-courses are available
    • Create an account: Select a course to enroll (free email registration is required; email is saved for log in purposes only, and no data is given away)
    • Pick a course: Select the Title to begin (or select ‘Overview’ to see what the course and DLX is about)
    • Start learning: Go through the course at your own pace. You may play through sections as much as desired, and choose as many courses as you like.
    • Enjoy!

If you need help enrolling in any of the courses, please connect with Contact North at 1-877-999-9149 and select the Technical Support option.
